Breathscape

Breathscape is a curated origami kit that folds and inflates into a breathing sculpture. Paired with a guided breathing app, it transforms the meditative act of breathing into a tactile and immersive experience.

THE PROBLEM

1. Digital Mindfulness Feels Fleeting

✿ Most breathing apps live on a screen — once the session ends, the practice disappears. Without something tangible to hold onto, it’s easy for the habit (and the calm it brings) to fade away.

2. Breathing is Invisible

✿ We breathe thousands of times a day, but the act itself is intangible. Apps give numbers or cues, but they don’t let you see or feel your breath. Without a way to visualize it, breathing can feel distant instead of embodied.

IDEATION

We set out to design a physical model that makes breath visible. Using paper — a material that is light, flexible, and personal to assemble — we created a curated origami kit that folds and inflates into a breathing sculpture.

Paired with a guided app, Breathscape turns an invisible act into an immersive ritual:

✿ Personal through reflection, resonance, and emotional connection

Inspiration: Raphel Lozano-Hemmer’s large scale interactive work for their ambient, sensory immersion and Karolina Maszkiewicz’s paper art for its organic, ephemeral qualities.

BREATHSCAPE ORIGAMI KIT

The kit comes in a instructional envelope with a foldable petal box enclosed with origami paper and instructions. Lightweight sheets of paper are grouped by breathing exercises. They fold into paper balloons - sizes correspond with seconds of breaths - for users to inflate and assemble.

Back of the envelope includes a QR code to our relaxing Spotify playlist for an immersive folding experience.
